How does LUSID account for cash in portfolios?

How are cash balances maintained in LUSID, and what information is available for cash balances in a portfolio

In addition to holdings in instruments, a portfolio typically also contains cash balances.

Cash can be added to a portfolio using specific transaction types, for example FundsIn in the default configuration. In addition, LUSID will automatically calculate the cash effect of a transaction, for example the proceeds from a sale.

LUSID will maintain separate commitment records for future cash movements, eg unsettled trades or cash receivables, including the appropriate settlement dates. This allows a cash ladder to be easily generated. The records can be identified using the Position Type field in the response.
